Mélissa Kenny
Studying at Trinity Laban was an extremely valuable experience on a musical, professional and personal level. I learned to be efficient in my practice, explored a wide repertoire, collaborated with other faculties and finally became a versatile and experienced performer.

Mélissa Kenny graduated in 2012 after completing a MMus in Performance with Distinction, supported by the Trinity College London Scholarship and the Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship. In 2011 and 2012 she was selected in the Countess of Munster Trust Recital Scheme. Since graduating she has worked as a soloist, performing recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Southwark Cathedral and Blackheath Halls. Mélissa was a prize winner in the 2011 Camac Harp Competition in the North London Festival and in the UFAM competition in France in 2005 and 2006. She was awarded the John Marson Prize for an Outstanding and Creative Musician at Trinity Laban in 2010. In 2013 Mélissa moved to South America and is principal harpist with the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra in Uruguay. She performed Debussy’s Dances and the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto in Montevideo to critical acclaim. As well as a performing, Mélissa teaches harp. Beside her preforming activity, Mélissa developed a real interest in teaching the harp. She gained her LTCL Diploma in Instrumental Teaching in 2010 and was harp assistant at Junior Trinity for two years. She taught at Junior Trinity for two years and is now teaching harp at the Vicente Ascone Music School in Montevideo and the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón.

Since October 2019, Melissa has held the position of Principal Harp in the Orquesta Estable del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
